Common questions
What is the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel?
A dead pixel stays black on every colour. A stuck pixel stays one colour, often red, green or blue. Stuck pixels sometimes recover on their own; dead pixels usually do not.
What is backlight bleed?
Light leaking around the edges of the screen, easiest to see on the black test in a dark room. A little is normal on many screens; large bright patches can mean a damaged panel.
I can see lines across the screen. Is the screen broken?
Not always. Lines can come from the panel, the display cable or the graphics chip. If the lines also show on an external monitor, the problem is inside the laptop rather than the screen.
