- Click inside the keyboard area so the page can read your key presses.
- Press every key one by one, including Shift, Ctrl, Alt and the arrow keys.
- Keys turn green when they work. Any key that stays white is not responding.
- Keys that type twice from one press, or stay down by themselves, turn amber and are listed under the keyboard.
- On a desktop keyboard, switch to Full + numpad to test the number pad too.
Common questions
Why does the Fn key not light up?
The Fn key is handled inside the laptop itself and is never sent to the browser, so no website can detect it. Test it by using an Fn shortcut such as volume or brightness instead.
How do I test the numpad?
Switch to Full + numpad above the keyboard. The numpad is detected with Num Lock on or off, and the lights show whether Num, Caps and Scroll Lock are on.
What does "possible fault" mean?
A key turns amber if one press was registered twice (a sign of a worn switch) or if it stayed down for more than three seconds (it may be stuck). Press it a few more times to confirm.
Some keys work in Notepad but not here. Why?
A few keys, like Print Screen or the Windows key, can be captured by Windows before the browser sees them. If a key works in other programs, the key itself is fine.
A few keys are dead. Can it be fixed?
Often yes. It can be dirt or a spill under the key, a loose ribbon cable, or a worn-out keyboard that needs replacing. Send us your result on WhatsApp and we will tell you what it is likely to be.
